Update: Prepping our Boat for Hurricane Irma in South Florida

Don’t be too worried, we are not out cruising right now, we are safe and tucked away back home at Indiantown Marina.

Having been back one week now from our shakedown, we’ve been given plenty of notice that Irma is headed our way, and we are doing everything we can to prepare ourselves and our boat. Indiantown is situated about 10 miles east of Lake Okeechobee, with locks on both sides of us.
As this goes up, Hurricane Irma is intended to strike Florida as a Category 5 storm, making contact with mainland Florida near the Ft. Meyers area and continuing north across land.
We have the boat secured and will be riding out the storm at our local shelter. Georgie has made her way up to Alabama with friends and is safe and out of harms way.
In case we lose power and internet during the storm, we will be sending messages to family and friends via InReach to let them know how we are doing, and those messages will be relayed to our Facebook page. If you would like to know how we are doing throughout the storm, check there for updates.
Wish us well and just know that we are as prepared as we can be!

Cheers from our hurricane hole!
