ENGINE ALARMS AT SEA! 🚨 Engine Failure? Hydraulics Lost? Chaotic Anchoring? STRESS OVERLOAD!
We set out for a routine, 6.5-hour journey south to Bahía de los Muertos, expecting a completely uneventful day of cruising down the Baja Peninsula. Instead, we were handed one of the most stressful, high-stakes days we’ve ever experienced on Noeta.
It started underway when a series of helm alarms shattered the peace. Pat jumped straight into troubleshooting while we were still moving and discovered a critical issue: dangerously low fuel pressure on our main engine. Forced to limp the boat into the bay, our relief was cut short the moment we arrived.
24-knot winds slammed into us, turning our anchor drop into absolute chaos. After being forced to abort our first attempt and do a full "go-around," more alarms began screaming as our hydraulic system overheated. Stranded without our hydraulics for our windlass and facing a mechanical crisis, we had no choice but to stay where we dropped the anchor the 2nd time—leaving us anchored way too close for comfort to another boat.
