We went to bed in paradise and woke up in what could have been a nightmare. In this episode of Noeta, we’re anchored in the stunning Honeymoon Cove in the Sea of Cortez with a forecast of zero wind. But just before 6:00 AM, the Baja weather had other plans. We woke up to 20+ knot gusts and realized we were just two boat lengths away from the rocky shore. Watch as we scramble to determine if our ground tackle is failing and how we manage a 60-ton Nordhavn in a tight, lee-shore anchorage.

But there were also magical moments. We were visited by a pod of dolphins dancing around the boat at anchor, and we celebrated Pat’s birthday with a surprise party attended by our fellow Nordhavn owners. It’s a perfect example of the "highs and lows" of live aboard cruising—from the terror of a potential grounding to the incredible bond of the trawler community.

In This Episode:

Anchor Drag Drama: Dealing with unexpected high winds and a shifting swing radius.

Baja Weather: Why the Sea of Cortez forecasts can't always be trusted.

Wildlife Encounter: Incredible footage of dolphins swimming right alongside Noeta.

Cruiser Community: A surprise birthday bash with our buddy boating fleet.

Nordhavn Life: The reality of managing stress and safety in remote Mexico.
