7 Days on the Hard With a Nordhavn: Underwater Lights, Anchor Chain & Locker Overhaul & a Lost Cat!
Days 4 through 7 of our shipyard refit hit us with a mix of rewarding upgrades, dirty jobs, and a complete heart-in-throat emergency!
While Noeta is still high and dry on the jack stands, we are making massive progress on our project list:
Underwater Lights: Installing brand-new underwater lights to illuminate the water when we're back at anchor.
Transducer Finalized: Wrapping up the installation of our new marine electronics transducer.
Anchor Locker Overhaul: Taking advantage of our empty anchor locker while the chain is off in Guadalajara to deep clean and restore the compartment.
Painting the Chain: Preparing the anchor setup for maximum visibility by adding fresh depth markers to the chain.
But amidst all the grinding, drilling, and painting, the absolute nightmare of every liveaboard pet parent happened: Gilligan went missing. Searching for a cat in a massive, noisy, open-air Mexican shipyard is no joke. We take you along for the frantic search, how we finally found our sneaky boat cat, and the hard lessons learned about shipyard safety for pets.
