Our 36th episode, titled ‘Abschied und Neubeginn,’ marks not just the end of our thrilling journey with Jumbo but also the exciting beginning of another grand adventure. In this video, we won’t be sharing any sinking ship visuals but rather giving you a comprehensive recap of what we achieved together on our last vessel and introducing our new sailing partner, Amel Mango.

A Glance at Our Epic Voyage with Jumbo

Over the span of an incredible 40,000 nautical miles navigated from New York to Brazil and beyond, we embarked on numerous memorable adventures. We encountered exhilarating moments in diverse destinations like the Azores, Canary Islands, the Caribbean, and more, culminating in our fantastic Atlantic crossing.

However, every epic tale has its heart-stopping moment. On October last year, while sailing towards the South Atlantic, Jumbo met a tragic end after colliding with an unidentified vessel, highlighting one of the significant risks that come with the thrilling yet perilous seas.

A Tribute to Our Departure

We took a solemn exit from Kemmer in Turkey in late April, leaving behind not just Jumbo but also a part of ourselves on this amazing sailing journey. Despite the tragedy, it was indeed an honor for us to see our sailing adventure on Jumbo come to such an emotional close.

The Journey to Amel Mango

As we moved forward, the natural question arose – ‘What next?’ It wasn’t long before we decided that our passion for sailing and exploration isn’t something we’d wish to abandon. With this decision, we set forth on the quest to find a new vessel that would take us further on our journey of discovery.

After thorough deliberation and personal preference selection criteria such as robustness, size, and material, we decided upon Amel Mango. It offered the ideal blend of features such as stability, spaciousness, and modern amenities that were appealing to us both.

An Overview of Amel Mango

Our new vessel is an 57′ Amel Super Maramu, a classic and robust model renowned for its seaworthiness and comfort. A key feature of our Amel Mango is its ability to retract into shallow water if necessary, providing added safety and convenience during dockings or shallow waters.

Discovering Our New Home

The journey of exploration began when we took possession of our Amel Mango, starting with a detailed inspection. We were captivated by the luxurious yet functional design and excellent condition handed to us by the previous owner.

One highlight is the sophisticated Hardtop, providing valuable shade whether it’s to escape the heat of the sun or find shelter during light rain. A feature we’re quite excited about as well is the autopilot system with which we can maintain course with minimal manual effort, freeing up time for us to enjoy our surroundings.
