We’re back to working on Freebie, but we’ve got to be a little creative and choose our projects wisely because until the construction of the home she’s docked behind is finished, we have limited access. We chose to work on the new companionway stairs because most of the work can be done at our apartment away from the boat.
We’re keeping things simple with this build. We’re starting with piece of marine plywood and fiberglassing that. That board will be faired and painted white and attached to it we’ll install teak and white oak steps. In this video we glass in the supports and start fairing in preparation for paint.
Let us know what you think of the project in the comments down below, and be sure to offer up any suggestions for us on how to move forward! We appreciate the help!

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20’s, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we’re in our 30’s. We’re not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you’re not afraid to make some mistakes along the way.
