Tornado Worlds FINAL DAY round up

Tornado Worlds Final Day: A Thrilling Finale

After a week of anticipation and fierce competition, the final day of the Tornado World Championships delivered an electrifying conclusion. Joseph Bennett, aboard Bad Boy 94, takes us through the highlights of this grand finale.

The much-awaited wind finally arrived, bringing wave heights slightly lower but enough to favor the teams. The first race saw a starting sequence abandoned due to a significant wind shift, leading to a restart with a strategic approach that allowed for a clear start. Bad Boy 94 made the most of this opportunity by engaging in single trapezing and maintaining boat speed.

Despite facing challenging conditions throughout the regatta, Bad Boy 94 managed to secure a mid-fleet finish in race nine, putting them in the 19th position. The team had three German boats right behind them, adding pressure to perform even better.

In the final race of the Riata, Bad Boy 94 executed an impressive start at the pin end, showcasing their determination and skills. With a solid wind of around 12 knots, they charged off the line, taking the lead. The first beat upwind revealed them in fifth place, setting a strong foundation for their performance.

Consistency paid off as Bad Boy 94 held onto fourth place for most of the race. However, a strategic move to split from the top-ranked Italian boat at the gate allowed them to maintain their momentum while keeping a close eye on their rivals.

The final downwind leg saw an intense dog fight with Marcel and Ben from the Swiss team. Although Bad Boy 94 managed to get ahead initially, they were unable to bear away fully, resulting in a sixth-place finish for the day’s last race. The race marked their best performance in the regatta, showcasing what might have been if only better wind conditions had persisted throughout.

With the overall results posted on Joseph Bennett’s Facebook page, it became clear that Angelica and Calvin from Austria emerged as first-place winners. Marcel and Ben from Switzerland took second place, while the French team of Yan and Thomas secured third place. The Club Nautico Rony deserves applause for hosting this event flawlessly, along with commendations for the race committee and supporters who contributed to its success.

As Bad Boy 94 sails towards Greece for further adventures, they reflect on this intense championship and look forward to more exciting competitions ahead.

The Ultimate Showdown in Italian Waters

The Tornado World Championships’ final day unfolded like a thrilling showdown between skilled sailors vying for supremacy. The picturesque backdrop of Italian waters provided an ideal setting as Bad Boy 94 faced off against some of the world’s best Tornado teams.

With consistent teamwork and strategic decision-making, Joseph Bennett and Ben took on the challenges presented by variable wind conditions throughout the regatta. Their unwavering dedication paid off in the end, with Bad Boy 94 delivering standout performances that left a lasting impression on spectators.

The Austrian team of Angelica and Calvin proved unstoppable in their victory, while Marcel and Ben from Switzerland came in second place. The French duo of Yan and Thomas claimed third place, showcasing an impressive display of sailing prowess.

This grand finale not only witnessed fierce competition among top teams but also showcased camaraderie between sailors at all levels. From start to finish, the event remained true to its mission: celebrating excellence within the Tornado sailing community while promoting friendly rivalry and sportsmanship.
