When you go out, spend a % of your session focusing on actual training

Speed
– Maintaining speed for distances
– Sailing with perfect trim + sail setting
Control
– Flying the hull
– holding position
– man overboard type drill
– start line drill
Even if you’re not to worried about improving your performance:
– preparation
– rigging
– launching
– recovery

Most important – make sure that the mast isn’t going to fall down.
