Allen Dynamic 60 Mainsheet System Review

In this episode, we dive into the Allen Dynamic 60 Mainsheet System, a game-changer in the world of catamaran sailing. After using it extensively, including at the Tornado Worlds, Joseph Bennett shares his insights on what makes this system stand out.

Larger-than-life Features

The most striking feature of the Allen Dynamic 60 Mainsheet System is its size. Bigger than standard 57 mil blocks, these bad boys offer more mechanical advantage due to the wider arc that the rope has to travel around. This results in smoother and effortless operation compared to smaller systems.

Enhanced Durability and Reliability

The system comes with stainless steel becketts, ensuring maximum strength and reliability. The ratchet on the center block is also not likely to break easily, thanks to its sturdy construction.

Adjustable Cleat and Easy Switching

A high-quality adjustable cleat is a welcome addition. Joseph has to say that it’s the easiest adjustment system he’s ever encountered on a main sheet block, with just one bolt for quick and easy setting changes.

Smooth Operation With Tapered Rope

The system works well with both machine-tapered and non-tapered ropes. Joseph used a 8 mil Robin main sheet rope, which runs smoothly through the blocks, ensuring a consistent performance across different rope thicknesses.

Potential Downsides

However, these larger blocks do come with some trade-offs. Increased windage at the back end of the boat and added weight compared to smaller systems are potential drawbacks. Additionally, the stainless steel ball bearings inside the sheaves ensure long-lasting performance but add to the overall heft.

A Game-Changing Experience

After a month of use, including during the Tornado Worlds, Joseph is convinced that the Allen Dynamic 60 Mainsheet System makes sheeting in much easier, especially in windy conditions. If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable main sheet block system with at least a 10:1 mechanical advantage, this system is definitely worth checking out.

Conclusion

In summary, the Allen Dynamic 60 Mainsheet System is a must-have for catamaran owners who want an effortless and reliable way to sheet in. With its unique features and easy setup, this system has earned a spot as Joseph’s go-to choice for main sheet blocks.

IT's ALL TRUE. THESE BAD BOY BLOCKS MAKE IT EASIER TO SHEET IN.
