We left the mooring in Jamestown planning to sail our Seawind 1600 catamaran 60 nautical miles to Nantucket. Little did we know Newport wasn’t quite ready to see us go. The fog blanketed the bay so densely we could barely see in front of the boat. So we turned around and gave it a go the next day. Our patience paid off, and we had a beautiful sail to the picture perfect island off the Massachusetts coast. That’s the epitome of sailing life. It can be the best of times but also the worst of times. Life at sea isn’t always a dream but in the end it’s worth it. If you’re new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog dog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our #Seawind1600 #catamaran, Wanderlust, in September. We plan to sail her to Harbors Unknown, and explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. We share our adventures as a sailing couple living on a boat and how it’s possible to live an #alternativelifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment.
