Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin and Fabio Potenti, and our French Bulldog Yoda. We sold our home at the beginning of the pandemic (May 27th, 2020) and moved aboard our Seawind 1600 catamaran, SV Wanderlust, in September. We’re documenting boat life as live aboard sailors, sharing our learnings, sailing adventures, travel experiences and delicious meals cooked on board. We're sailing SV Wanderlust to Harbors Unknown, to explore the world’s vast cultures through food, a common thread amongst people everywhere. Connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how those dishes can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. Today we have a different style of video for you. We sat down with friends of ours who are also first time new boat buyers. Tim + Kate McGinnis are on a Seawind 1260 and Dale is on the Seawind 1600 Passagemaker with his wife Katrina. We’re sharing our learnings from the entire new boat buying process from purchase, to build, where to take delivery, importing, commissioning and warranty phase. We’ve created this video from our own personal experiences to serve as a resource for first time new boat buyers. What we’re sharing isn’t rocket science but you don’t know what you don’t know or your expectation may be entirely different from reality. Now that the secondhand boat market is slim to none there will be a lot more people buying a new boat for the first time and we hope you’ll be able to learn a bit from our experience.
