
Down East Circle Part 5 - Course Overview

This years Down East Circle – Part 5, will take us on an approximately 175 nautical mile round trip, down Nova Scotia’s South Shore. Not too far or too difficult but we’ll make a lot of interesting stops, and we expect to have a fun & relaxing cruise.
Leg 1, From Shining Waters Marina on St. Margarets Bay to Troop Island, about 10 nautical miles
Leg 2, From Troop Island crossing St. Margarets to Mahone Bay we’ll anchor in Deep Cove, about 20 nautical miles
Leg 3, From deep cove across Mahone Bay to Chester, about 7 nautical miles
Leg 4, Sailing from Chester down Mahone Bay to Lunenburg Yacht Club, about 15 nautical miles
Leg 5, A rollicking good sail from LYC to historic Lunenburg where we’ll take a mooring in the front harbour, about 20 nautical miles
Leg 6, Lunenburg to West Spectacle Island in the beautiful La Have Islands, about 15 nautical miles
Leg 7, From West Spectacle into the lower La Have River to tie up at the La Have Bakery’s dock, about 5 nautical miles
Leg 8, From the La Have Bakery dock near Fort Point we’ll sail up river to Bridgewater, about 10 nautical miles
Leg 9, Just a few miles back down river from Bridgewater to anchor overnight off of Weagle Pt, abut 2 nautical miles
Leg 10, From Weagle Point downriver to the La Have River Yacht Club, on secluded Pernette Cove, about 5 nautical miles
Leg 11, Sailing from LHYC to the beautiful, rugged anchorage at Mosher Island’s Sloop Cove, about 10 nautical miles
Leg 12, Leaving Sloop Cove we’ll sail back into Mahone Bay to the famous town of Mahone Bay, about 20 nautical miles
Leg 13, Departing Mahone Bay we’ll sail back to St. Margarets Bay to moor in protected Hubley Cove, about 25 nautical miles
Leg 14, Just 5 miles from Hubley Cove back to Shining Waters where we’ll haul the boat out for this season.
