Just off the town lies an excellent anchorage sheltered by Isle Caraquet.
We spent an idyllic afternoon walking on the island and swimming off the boat in what was the warmest water we’d discovered since arriving in Gaspe.
A high point of the day was finding wild blueberries growing abundantly and some interesting and we thought historic metal objects on the islands stony beach.
By dinghy we traveled to the far side of the island, getting a wet return ride when the wind got up
Near the islands centre there is an untraveled trail but the dense undergrowth seemed too much of a challenge for such a pleasant day.
