As we settle into cruiser life, the way we explore towns and new places has changed a bit. Before sailing, our exploration and memories of a town mostly revolved around all the food we ate there. Now, cooking on our own boat has become one of the best parts of travelling. Anchoring down in places, watching sunsets and sunrises and cooking our meals on repeat has become a favorite routine. But the part where we get to see what a town offers by walking all over has definitely not changed. We explore the town of Newport some more and start our prep for an upcoming hurricane!

Our Indian meal recipe:
**This is not a detailed recipe. If you’d like a step by step instructional recipe, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll write it out. If you’d like a video, please let us know in the comments.**
Rice: 1 cup basmati rice, well washed and rinsed, cooked in 2.25 cups of water in a pot or rice cooker.
Tomato daal: Cook 1 cup toor daal (soaked over night) with an onion, two tomatoes, 2 teaspoons of salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, and a few cloves of chopped up garlic in water either in a pot or pressure cooker until lentils are super soft. Taste and adjust spices to your liking.
Butter chicken:
Chicken – cut up 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast to small pieces and marinate in yogurt, salt, turmeric powder and cumin powder at least for an hour. Broil in the oven for a few minutes to crisp on outside.
Sauce – sauté a diced onion, minced ginger and garlic, tomato paste in some oil. Add on one stick of butter and once it’s all melted, add spices (1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp garam masala, 1 tbsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp chili powder) and sauté everything together. Then add 2 cups of tomato sauce (could be plain marinara pasta sauce or sauce made from scratch) and cook for a few minutes. Add some heavy cream. Let cook for a few minutes and taste and adjust the flavors to your liking. Once everything has cooked together, add the chicken pieces and cook for a few minutes to ensure chicken pieces are cooked through.
