We found THE BEST FREE MOORING IN THE WORLD - Lizard Island’s Mermaid Cove - Series 3 Episode 76

We finally say goodbye to Cooktown, with an overnight stop at Cape Bedford on our way north to Lizard Island. Here we head for Mermaid Cove at the north of the island that a cruiser we met in Port Douglas had recommended to us. Thanks Mark. We owe you big time. We picked up the single yacht mooring in the bay and put simply, it is the most outstanding mooring we’ve ever stayed on anywhere in the world. Perfectly protected from the constant 25 knot winds, the snorkelling was outstanding in crystal clear water while we also made the most of the golden sand beach. Best of all, we experienced four days in paradise with the whole place to ourselves.
