Sailing Adventure: Chase the Story is Tasha Hacker's YouTube Channel, which started as a chronicle of her RTW sailing adventures with her husband on board their FP Helia 44 catamaran, Cheeky Monkey. Within 2 years of buying the new boat, the couple got divorced, Tasha got her Captain's license and US Sailing Instructor's certification and started teaching women to sail in the Caribbean. When pandemic hit, Tasha went back to Lake Tahoe, CA and during lockdown started teaching Women's Sailing courses on Lake Tahoe, CA. She's been trying to figure out what to do next and how to keep empowering more women on boats, teaching others to sail. On November 26, 2015, the six crew of sailing vessel Cheeky Monkey set out with two missions – 1) show our French crew members a proper Thanksgiving celebration with a massive feast at sea and 2) make it to the Canary Islands in time for Kristi’s birthday.
This video is the first Chase the Story installment of Cheeky Monkey’s journey sailing across the Atlantic Ocean – the first major ocean crossing of our circumnavigation. In many ways we used it as a trial sail to get everyone trained as this was our first time sailing with the entire Atlantic-crossing crew. We had a chance to fly our parasailor successfully and really see how fast Cheeky Monkey can go in perfect tradewind conditions…but as you’ll see in coming videos, you actually need wind to be able to fly it!
