Sailing Adventure: Chase the Story is Tasha Hacker's YouTube Channel, which started as a chronicle of her RTW sailing adventures with her husband on board their FP Helia 44 catamaran, Cheeky Monkey. Within 2 years of buying the new boat, the couple got divorced, Tasha got her Captain's license and US Sailing Instructor's certification and started teaching women to sail in the Caribbean. When pandemic hit, Tasha went back to Lake Tahoe, CA and during lockdown started teaching Women's Sailing courses on Lake Tahoe, CA. She's been trying to figure out what to do next and how to keep empowering more women on boats, teaching others to sail. Sailing Vessel Cheeky Monkey’s off-watch woke up on the final morning of our trip from Palma Mallorca to Gibraltar to squeals of excitement that only come from spotting dolphins and whales. We turned the boat around to get a closer look only to have these magical creatures swim right up to Cheeky Monkey. John couldn’t contain his excitement and decided to jump in with them to experience the whales in their natural environment.
There are many words that could describe this moment, but ‘magical’ is the first that comes to mind.
This is our third sailing installment since we left Mallorca to start our circumnavigation. We’re racing the winter in the Mediterranean a little at this point, trying to get south before it gets too cold. Luck was on our side though, as we had some wonderful sailing conditions with northerly and easterly winds, pushing us towards Gibraltar and the more consistent Atlantic winds.
This is pure adventure at it’s best: traveling with great friends, encountering stunning wildlife, and having a great time.
