BEHIND THE STORY: Chase the Story on Patreon
Since we bought our first boat, a 1986 Catalina 34 called Hideaway, in 2007 with the intent to learn how to sail, we’ve been dreaming of sailing away from familiar shores and finding out just how far we can go.
In 2012, we left New York City for good on Hideaway and headed for the Caribbean. That experience cruising and living aboard and turning up in different countries under our own wind power convinced us that we wanted to spend more time at sea and more time traveling around the world.
So in 2015 we sold our businesses in New York and bought a new boat — a 2015 Fountaine-Pajot Helia 44, which we fondly called Cheeky Monkey. And with this new adventure was born a new mission: to invite people with different skills and talents to come sailing with us on Cheeky Monkey. Together, with our creative crew, the mission was to chase adventures and find engaging ways to tell video stories about what we experienced. That’s how this project we call Chase the Story was born, and that is how we’ve met the wonderful crew that we’ve invited into our lives and our video stories.

Sailing Adventure: Chase the Story is Tasha Hacker's YouTube Channel, which started as a chronicle of her RTW sailing adventures with her husband on board their FP Helia 44 catamaran, Cheeky Monkey. Within 2 years of buying the new boat, the couple got divorced, Tasha got her Captain's license and US Sailing Instructor's certification and started teaching women to sail in the Caribbean. When pandemic hit, Tasha went back to Lake Tahoe, CA and during lockdown started teaching Women's Sailing courses on Lake Tahoe, CA. She's been trying to figure out what to do next and how to keep empowering more women on boats, teaching others to sail.
