Thanks for joining us today as I bring you a new series to review some of my top picks in products that I think are going to be game changers to not only those of us in Boat Life, but also off-grid homes and cottages, RVs, camper vans, Tiny Homes, Alternative Lifestyles, etc. Today we focus on the most important factor in any off-grid energy system, the storage, being the batteries.
Lately we have a plethora of great options available in new technology batteries using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LifePO4) that pretty much guarantee a minimum 10-year lifespan with zero maintenance. Even better, there are now companies that are competing in this space that are helping to finally bring the cost of these batteries down to a level that most of can afford.
The most recent batteries I’ve been testing for todays episode are the 24Vdc 200Ah LifePO4 batteries by REDODO. These batteries have been tested and reviewed by other Youtube channels like HOBOTECH and Will Prowse Solar that have given us great information about the construction and materials used in these batteries so we know exactly what we are getting, so my intention was solely to test these batteries under rigorous conditions for a solid 3 months of daily use onboard SOPHISTICATED LADY and see how they faired.
