A very sad day for all of us in the rally as one of our Captains, Tim Brewer of ‘Q4’ passes away very suddenly during our Valentine’s Day celebrations in the San Blas Islands of Panama. I hope we can all learn something from this day in how to be better prepared for when the worst happens… even simple things like knowing how to properly operate a VHF radio for use in emergencies, knowing where first aid kit is and how to use it, initiating first aid and/or CPR, and being able to relay an accurate GPS position can all make the difference between life and death when every moment counts.
I’m sure we will all take something away from this experience, the question is, how will you live your life differently tomorrow based on what you learned today?
