The Best FIRST Sailboat Under 30 Feet! This MAINE made Sabre 28 for $22k is IDEAL. Maine made, Maine tough - these Sabres are fantastic boats and this Sabre 28-1 is a perfect example of a wonderful first big sailboat or an ideal sailboat to downsize to. I have sailed on a Sabre 36 since before I could drive a car and I can attest to their quality, comfort, and performance. This Sabre 28-1 model was the sailboat that started it all for Roger Hewson and his Sabre Yachts. With nearly 600 of these made over 14 years, they were an instant success and put Sabre Yachts on the map, and lead to other iconic Sabres like the 34, 36, and 38. In all, Sabre Yachts (which still manufactures powerboats), built more than 1,600 sailboats from 28 to 45 feet in length and they can be found all over the world. This Sabre 28-1 is great for weekending, coastal cruising, or even some racing. And SILVER DOLLARS had a complete refit in 2014. A complete list of her upgrades is listed below, along with all of the fun gear that comes with her. Canadian Ken and I were blown away by her turn-key condition. ● Re-powered with a rebuilt Moyer Atomic 4
2013 - 2014 (refit)
● New fuel tank and lines.
● All new port lights, including those above the settees.
● New holding take and sanitation hoses
● Hull stripped, faired, barrier coated and awlgripped.
● New chrome Harken double speed primary winches.
● New custom Harken traveler with windward sheeting.
● All deck hardware removed, stripped, re-plated, re-bedded, and re-
installed
● New Northsail Main and Genoa (cut with the foot lower for good light
wind performance - Deck sweeper)
● New Northsail Mainsail cover
● All exterior wood removed and replaced with new, 12 coats varnish.
● Replaced stanchions and life lines.
● All new standing rigging.
● New chainplates (x4).
● Resurfaced entire deck.
● New running rigging.
● New Harken roller furling.
