Sailing Away From Reality is needed from time to time. Especially right now. So if you need a little break from the world and the news, take a sail with me on a sunnier, happier day as I solo out to North Haven and Vinalhaven, Maine. A beautiful summer day in September that will hold fast in my memory during these darker days and winter - which is right around the corner. Sailing away from reality is something we can do both literally and metaphorically. In this case, I am doing both. Bono sings, "I can't believe the news today, Oh, I can't close my eyes and make it go away..." - and he's right. So sometimes you just need to go do something to find a happier place. So, I dug out some archived footage of one of my favorite sails this summer - well, from September 7th. But it was a hot, beautiful day - a great day to escape. Sailing is cathartic. Maine sailing is especially wonderful. Even now. Enjoy the sights, the sounds, and the beauty - if even for a few moments.
