80 KNOT WINDS RIP THROUGH OUR BOAT | The Aftermath

On an unforgettable morning around 7 a.m., Beau and Brandy face the strongest winds they have ever encountered while anchored. An 80-knot microsquall tears through their boat with relentless force, leaving them shocked but grateful for a successful outcome.

The Harrowing Encounter

Barely awake, they spring into action on deck to prevent further destruction. It all happens so suddenly that they barely have time to think, let alone be scared. The sail becomes disarrayed, but luckily a small latch saves the day by allowing slugs to come undone. They later find out that their solar panel had also been ripped open.

The Repair Process

With daylight as their ally, they tackle the repairs to their sail and panels. Beau manages to patch the sail with a Speedy Stitcher for the first time ever while Brandy works on fixing the damaged solar panel.

Safely Heading Towards Norman’s Pond

After completing their repairs, they set sail for Norman’s Pond in the Bahamas, a hurricane hole known for its 360° of calm water. Despite some missteps along the way, including almost running aground, Beau and Brandy successfully make it to the anchorage.

A Safe Harbor

Norman’s Pond offers them a much-needed break from the elements, providing a protected spot that reduces some of the PTSD they experience from their previous ordeal. With calm waters ahead, Beau and Brandy take time to reflect on this harrowing but successful chapter in their journey.
