Old Fish House Marina Matlacha Florida

Barefoot Sailing Adventures continues its exploration of the picturesque town of Matlacha, Florida. Join us as we navigate through the charming streets, dine at popular establishments like the Blue Dog, and discover local art by world-renowned artist Love Gro.

After leaving the marina, we decided to head over to The Blue Dog restaurant, which has been touted as one of the best dining experiences in the area. We arrived at a busy time, but still managed to find some open seating on their lovely back patio.

As we explored the surrounding areas of the Blue Dog, we stumbled upon another quaint little establishment known as the Old Fish House Marina. Ashley expressed that this place seemed particularly old and had an authentic ‘fishy’ scent permeating the air, sparking our curiosity about the history behind it.

Upon further investigation, we determined that indeed the marina was known as both Old Fish House Marina or something similar, lending to its established charm. As we ventured around this intriguing location, we also discovered an enticing breakfast spot near by and decided to make it our next stop in our exploration of Matlacha.

Discovering Artwork and Hidden Treasures

Continuing onward, we found ourselves drawn into an enchanting world filled with colorful artwork as we explored more of the island’s offerings. We stumbled upon a beautiful display of local art showcasing the unique creations by world-renowned artist Love Gro, whose works are displayed prominently in places like the White House and various presidential libraries.

The breathtaking array of vividly bright paintings was simply captivating, making us feel as if we had entered some fantastical realm reminiscent of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. We could see why her global following extends far beyond just lovers of local art; these truly are extraordinary pieces that deserve admiration and appreciation from all walks of life.

Embarking on Pine Island

In our pursuit of further adventure, we embarked towards the picturesque destination known as Pine Island. As we journeyed down what seemed to be the only road connecting both locations, Ashley and I marveled at how bustling this route was, considering it was the sole way in or out – either by vehicle or boat!

Navigating our course with careful determination, we were ultimately led to uncover yet another hidden gem nestled among Pine Island’s embrace: The Yucatan. With awe-inspiring admiration for its architectural design and aesthetic appeal, this place left a lasting impression on us.

Bathroom Challenges in the Marina

On one particularly chilly night during our stay at Old Fish House Marina, we encountered quite an experience. With only men’s bathroom hot showers available, Ashley braved through fear of the eerie surroundings and embraced her love for camping vibes to indulge in a refreshing shower session that would bring much-needed relief from wind and cold weather.

This memorable encounter reminded us just how important it is to have those rare moments where we can enjoy basic comforts like warm showers, especially when out sailing or on an extended boating trip.

The Endless Journey Continues

Barefoot Sailing Adventures will continue to uncover new discoveries and create lasting memories while visiting various destinations in Florida’s coastal regions. Follow us on our journey as we explore even more hidden treasures across these breathtaking waters.
