Our steam woes are over as we repurpose a familiar fire setup to generate steam the old-fashioned way: a big pot on a big fire. Do you work on steam generators? Get in touch with us if you think you can help Andrew out: he does need the steam generator in working order for Rosalind.
As a reminder, we’re steaming the locust to make the most of what is a relatively small amount that we have on hand. We’re taking curved pieces and increasing their curve. We have enough material now that we’ve bent what we’ve got.
We get in touch with a marine diesel exhaust expert who is going to build us the custom exhaust we need. Jorge Lang of DeAngelo Marine Exhaust in Fort Lauderdale, Florida www.deangelomarine.com has been a huge help with demystifying this important element of the Nanni Diesel installation. Steve creates and ships a mockup to them so they can get going on it.

Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur boat builder building a 38′ wooden boat in his backyard: designer William Atkin’s Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel’s gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when he and the crew will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they’ve built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva.
