An Update From Granby - Acorn to Arabella: Journey of a Wooden Boat
Well, the time has finally come for Steve to pack up the boat for a while and remain in Granby full-time with his mom and his family. In lieu of a full episode this week, they have a little update.
Update on Current Situation
In the video, Steve mentions that they made it back to Granby, Massachusetts. He and Robin, along with both his sisters, were all at his mom’s house when she started end-of-life care. Steve admits there is no easier way to put it but to acknowledge the situation.
Future Plans
Their plans for the upcoming weeks include taking some time to focus on life events, as they are unsure of how long they will be in Granby. However, Robin and Steve aim to continue creating content during this period.
Trip to Warmer Climates
Once they are on the other side of this situation, Robin and Steve plan to head to warmer climates during winter. Both of them seem personally excited about this adventure.
Ongoing Projects
During the video, Steve briefly mentions that before they go on their winter trip, there are a couple of big things they need to get through first. These include wrapping up some ongoing projects and taking care of his mom.
Content Creation
In the meantime, they appreciate their audience’s patience as they navigate these life events. They promise to do their best to keep the content coming while ensuring that bigger life priorities are taken care of.
Looking Ahead
Finally, Steve expresses excitement for when they can focus on the show again. Once they are through this phase, Robin and he plan to go full steam ahead with content creation.
To summarize, in this update episode, Steve announced their temporary hiatus from regular content creation due to personal reasons related to his mother’s health. The duo intends to be back and creating new episodes as soon as they get through these challenges, but for now, will be focusing on taking care of themselves and their family.

Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva.
