We Finally Made it the San Blas "Swimming Pool"
We’re a family sailing full-time, exploring the Caribbean and Central America aboard our sailing catamaran Big Lost. New episodes every Tuesday at 10:30 AM ET.
In this episode aboard Sailing Big Lost, we finally trade the noseeums of Snug Harbor for sunshine, clear water, and one of the most iconic anchorages in all of San Blas.
We begin by leaving Snug Harbor, escaping the relentless bugs and motoring for Isla Puyadas, where we enjoy a beautiful dive and a delicious feast of fresh channel crab. From there, we continue on to Nagarna in search of fuel, veggies, and other provisions before heading deeper into the San Blas Archipelago.
While exploring Nagarna’s river system, we encounter a crocodile lurking along the mangroves—one of those wild surprises that makes this cruising life so unforgettable.
Next, we make our way to Coco Banderos, a picture-perfect group of islands known for their white sand beaches, turquoise water, and thriving reef. After soaking up some much-needed sun and snorkeling a healthy, colorful ecosystem, we hoist the sails for the first time since leaving Colombia.
And what a sail it is.
We glide right into the legendary Swimming Pool anchorage—a true cruisers’ paradise and the San Blas experience we’ve been waiting weeks for.
