Sailing the remote waters of Brazil has been intense and a lesson in rolling with the punches. After surviving a devastating shipwreck and robbery, our new crew was hoping for a safe passage north from the Amazon Delta to French Guiana.
However, without warning, a fast moving boat appeared from nowhere and began following us. What started as concern quickly turned to fear as the pursuit continued for over 40 minutes.
In this episode, we share an unsettling moment in our sailing life, navigating a suspect pirate encounter in one of the least patrolled stretches of ocean in South America.
This is the reality of long distance sailing, where adventure, risk and resilience collide.
