I wanted to get sailing footage of the boat at sea, but being a novice drone pilot I was afraid of launching and landing a drone from the boat. SwellPro appeared to have the answer with the Splash Drone 3, a fully waterproof drone with 4K video capability and, most importantly, the ability to take off and land from the water. This meant that I would not have to be an expert pilot to get great footage, only the ability to pluck the drone out of the water with a boat hook after each flight. The only drawback seemed to be the hefty $1.7K price tag, but being so eager to get great sailing footage it was a risk I was willing to take.
Well I did get some decent footage. Unfortunately this drone developed problems about one month out of the box. I had to buy a new camera for it when water seeped into the original one. Then a rotor began to wobble. SwellPro customer service was less than stellar. Long story short I ended up listing the drone on eBay for parts. It sold for $200.
