Leaking Hatches on a NEW Catamaran | LEOPARD 45 REVIEW
From the first few days it became clear that our Leopard 45 had leaks all over varying in severity. We are trying to group similar issues together to help paint an overall picture of what brought us to here and why we are handling it the way that we are.
In this short video, we take a look at which of the Lewmar hatches on our catamaran leaked, the possible causes of the hatches leaking (which can apply to other brands of yacht) and what the warranty/rectification response from Leopard Catamarans and Robertson & Caine was like for the boys in Cape Town. We also show you how we leak test our hatches using a hose or bucket, just in case you're buying or handing over a new boat.
In the past videos we've touched on leaks from the windows, exhaust mixer hose, the skylights and deck fittings; now we're going to share what we've learned about leaking hatches based on our experiences on our new Leopard catamaran built by Robertson and Caine.
Please note that many shots are close up or cut down as they feature Robertson and Caine employees in frame. If we show their faces, Robertson and Caine may use another legal challenge to take the video down even though Trent made it completely clear that the boat and employees were being filmed by his friends and obtained permission, which middle management later withdrew as the warranty issues accumulated. Trent then said it is a condition of entry to the boat that you may be on film and everyone accepted these terms. One guy later said he no longer wanted to be filmed who Tynan did not film after that date to make Marcel's life easier. This is the same guy who allowed filming during the handover test sail then decided to lodge a legal complaint with Youtube breaking his verbal agreement. If they didn't want to be on camera they had the option not to be but instead chose to be filmed invalidating half the footage for use on this platform without a large blur over them.
