In Episode 7 we explored the islands of Faial and Pico. In Episode 8 we have a blustery sail from Horta to Sao Jorge and anchor under the cliffs at Velas, where there is a large colony of Cory’s shearwater. We swim, walk and take a road trip to visit their ocean front “Fajas”. From Velas we sail to Terceira, anchoring outside Angra do Heroísmo, one of the oldest cities in The Azores. From there it’s just a short sail to the beautiful beach front harbour at Praia da Vitória, where we prepare to haul out for the season.
