As you know we take preventative maintenance and upgrades very serious here on Avocet and always try to install the best systems for our lifestyle. While cleaning and rebuilding our fiberglass freshwater tanks, we discovered that our water was not as clean as we initially thought. Fortunately we had installed 3 filters to keep the “nasty” out of our bodies, but were determined to see how fresh our freshwater could be.
Acuva is a water filtration company that uses UV light to purify water. UV disinfection kills harmful microorganisms by disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions meaning you get squeaky clean water every time. The company’s UV-LED water disinfection systems are designed with precise optic and hydrodynamics. Water flows through the chamber in a controlled environment, matching water velocity and UV irradiance; creating consistent purification. The systems are flow-activated, and use minimal power consumption which is a major benefit to liveaboards as power is another vital resource.
