n Chapter 7 we depart from Waterford New York, and enter the Erie Barge Canal, traveling 40 miles upstream through locks E2 to E10, stopping for the night at the town of Amsterdam’s River Link Park.
Departing Amsterdam we lock through E11 just upstream from town and then proceed 40 miles through locks E12 to E17, resting for the night at Little Falls New York.
From Little Falls we motor up the canal 50 miles further passing through locks E18 to E21, tying up for the night at Lock 21.
From Lock 21 we begin the decent to lock E22, then cross Lake Oneida and lock through E23. We turn north at Three Rivers New York, leaving the Erie Canal system and entering the Oswego Canal system. We pass through the 7 locks of the Oswego Canal, docking at Oswego Marine on Lake Ontario where we wait to get Phantasia’s mast re-installed.
With the boats mast restored to it’s vertical position we set out 75 miles to cross Lake Ontario to our home port of Cobourg from where we departed on Down East Circle 6 seasons ago.
With our house rented out and needing to get back to work we decide to sail Phantasia west on Lake Ontario to Toronto where we spend a couple of weeks docked downtown at Marina Quay West.
