Gascons is a unique and beautiful harbour, we raft to a local boat and set out to explore the near by town.
Upon returning from our anchorage at Anse A La Barbe we went off in search of the possonerie, and finding it we realized we had not brought any money
The origin of the name of this village is thought to go back to the beginning of colonization when a ship coming from Gascogne ran aground here.
Many settlers came from the Basque country and also from Normandy and the Channel Islands.
In 1838, the Colborne, an English merchant ship, ran aground near here and one of the sailors having been saved by the local population married into the village. Perhaps the beginnings of St. Phillip Anglican Church pictured here.
