In this one, we set sail from Nanaimo for our last couple of stops in the Gulf Islands before leaving them behind for what will be at least a few years. Once at anchored on Gabriola, we are swarmed by thousands of little flies, so we abandond ship and head to shore for the evening. The next morning, we clean up the aftermath of the fly invasion and continue on to one of Trevor’s favorite Gulf Island anchorages. We arrive in style with no engine needed to set anchor! With lots of walking trails, we explore the beautiful adjacent islands that include an old homestead. With forest fire smoke hanging over the coast, we sail across the Strait of Georgia. Despite being in the open strait, the wind is light, but some humpback whales help keep us entertained as we slowly make our way to Point Roberts to clear customs into the USA.
