Welcome to Out Chasing Stars! We're Admiral Amy and Captain David and we're currently exploring the world on s/v Starry Horizons, our Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 catamaran. We started out (nervously!) watching our boat get launched in La Rochelle, France in October of 2014. Since then we've completed an entire world circumnavigation, sailing over 37,000nm, and documented it all here on YouTube. We started making these videos to show our family and friends what life was like on a sailboat, and we're still amazed that other people have also started following along. With Starry Horizons finally all fixed up with battens in her mainsail again, we had been itching to go do a proper sail! This time it was on a passage to Vanua Balavu in the Lau Group on the eastern side of Fiji. This passage must be timed just right so you don’t have to bash straight into the tradewinds. Fortunately, we found a light day with slight northerly winds and went for it and were rewarded with an awesome sail.
Upon our arrival, we did the traditional sevu sevu ceremony with the local chief and received permission to go explore the Bay of Islands. Only one problem. It started raining and wouldn’t stop! Finally we were able to make our way up to one of the most amazing anchorages we’ve ever been in and could relish in the fact that we had finally made it here.
