Welcome to Out Chasing Stars! We're Admiral Amy and Captain David and we're currently exploring the world on s/v Starry Horizons, our Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 catamaran. We started out (nervously!) watching our boat get launched in La Rochelle, France in October of 2014. Since then we've completed an entire world circumnavigation, sailing over 37,000nm, and documented it all here on YouTube. We started making these videos to show our family and friends what life was like on a sailboat, and we're still amazed that other people have also started following along. The time had finally come for us to leave French Polynesia and all its amazingness behind, so we planned to set off for Niue. Through a series of weather related change in plans, we ended up actually sailing to Beveridge Reef! If there’s one thing we’ve learned about cruising, it’s that you go where the wind takes you!
This passage was filled with a bit of craziness, including squalls with high winds and 40 degree shifts, more books being read than should be humanly possible, and worst of all, a DRONE FREAK OUT in the middle of the Pacific. Fortunately, we didn’t lose Phoenix and managed to make it into Beveridge Reef without any damage to the boat or us, so that’s definitely a win!
