Welcome to Out Chasing Stars! We're Admiral Amy and Captain David and we're currently exploring the world on s/v Starry Horizons, our Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 catamaran. We started out (nervously!) watching our boat get launched in La Rochelle, France in October of 2014. Since then we've completed an entire world circumnavigation, sailing over 37,000nm, and documented it all here on YouTube. We started making these videos to show our family and friends what life was like on a sailboat, and we're still amazed that other people have also started following along. Starry Horizons transits through (and drones!) the Panama Canal and makes it to the Pacific Ocean! Our friends Hans, Sara, Trevor and David join us as we spend two days navigating the Gatun, Pedro Miguel and Mira Flores Locks. Everything went nice and smooth and we are now ready to adventure in a whole new ocean!
Notes on the drone: We were able to get permission from the Canal Authority to fly our drone the first day in the Gatun Locks. However, our advisor the second day didn’t want us to fly in the Pedro Miguel or Mira Flores Locks but was okay with us flying it as we were motoring through Gatun Lake.
