Seemingly glued together, only a few miles apart, Vondée Globe leaders Charlie Dalin (MACIF Santé Prévoyance) and Yoann Richomme (PAPREC Aarkea) are set to round Cape Horn Monday evening around 22 hundred hours UTC, but even with only hours to go it is still unclear which of the two friends and rivals will be first.
Then Pip Hare on her dismasted Medallia under jury rig, headed for Melbourne Australia shares some footage from her dismasting. When the rig came down, her first priority was ensuring the hull’s safety. Armed with a hacksaw and gloves, she carefully removed anything still attached. In the end, she managed to save the boom, furlers, and one outrigger.
