The third day of the Star Eastern Hemisphere Championship in lake Garda began today with high interest . A small delay for the start kept the fleet ashore only for about an hour. At the same time the sea breeze was stabilized and the race committee brought the Star fleet to sail the 5th race of the regatta. After challenging tactical decisions during the upwind leg that offered continuously changes in the top 5 positions, the German duo of Paucksch and Knoll worked their way to the lead and won the race. The second race found the fleet with a small storm waiting to blast the wind pressure and prove that the Star boat handling is quite difficult to handle wind gusts over 25 knots. After a few damages the 6th race was dominated by the experienced Diego Negri and Frithjof Kleen. Their boat speed was the key to that win. The day ended with a tie in the points between Italy and Germany and lots of interest for the final race tomorrow.
