Global Sailing Highlights
The remarkable factor coursing through Emirates Team New Zealand squad from top to bottom is honesty, a refreshing trait for the Louis Vuitton 37th Americas Cup.
Out training at the back Paddock in Auckland, the youth team had an epic pitch pole and capsize with their AC40. Despite the capsizing, all crew were safe with minimal damage to the boat.
New York-Vendee Transatlantic Race
The 2024 New York-Vendee Transatlantic Race began on May 29th for Aoka 60 foot yachts, qualifying for entry into November’s Vendee Globe round-the-world race. MSIA, Medallia, and Initiatives Coeur led the initial fleet.
Emirates Team New Zealand Freight
The AC75 Defender is being transported by ship. Loaded onto Baltic’s spring, it will travel via the Panama Canal and Atlantic Ocean to Spain. Once there, PTOMO Barcelona awaits as the team continues its massive logistical program.
Alinghi Red Bull Racing in Barcelona
The only AC75 on the water in stunning Barcelona, Alinghi Red Bull Racing pushes relentlessly to improve technique and build up marginal gains.
Waszp Class at Lake Garda
The Waszp class held an unforgettable event in Bano, with a breathtaking display of sailing from precise turns to moments of pure speed. The new racing format Sprint Slalom concluded the Italian Cup Foil Wasp event.
The dynamic fleet saw Emmanuel SEI Yacht Club Imperia maintain a strong presence in both disciplines, leading overall standings and inspiring younger sailors like Ciro V Aro and Casper Ilin. Female skippers also made significant progress in the category.
Sailing Highlights Show
The World on Water May 31st, 2024 edition showcased remarkable honesty and determination across sailing teams. The transatlantic race brought thrilling encounters and strategic challenges for participating boats.

Emirates Team New Zealand have decided to freight their AC75 Defender by ship and it has been loaded onto the "Baltic Spring" and it is on its way to Spain via the Panama Canal and the Atlaantic Ocean and the Med Sea. All going well, it should take a month or so.
This is your weekly Global Sailing Highlights show, the World on Water, May 31, 2024.
One of the remarkable factors that courses through the entire Emirates Team New Zealand squad, from the very top to the bottom is honesty, and it's a remarkable, refreshing factor in the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup. Today out training on the ‘Back Paddock’ in Auckland, the Youth Team who were one-boat training on their AC40 over-cooked it on the exit of a gybe, lost the rudder and then had what can only be described as an epic pitch-pole and resultant capsize. We tend to think that this will happen again as the Women and Youth Teams get into competition.
The 2024 New York to Vendee Trans Atlantic Race for IMOCA 60 foot yachts who are qualifying for entry into Novembers Vendee Globe Round the World race started May 29 offshore from the Big Apple.
First report in from the boats was German Boris Herrmann on Melizia and then Brits Pip Hare on Medallia and Sam Davies saling Initiatives Coeur. The fleet are headed for the Gulf Stream current then home to their bases in the Vendee in France.
The only AC75 out in Barcelona on May 24, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, who cut a solitary but stunning form and figure against the beautiful downtown scenery, truly one of the greatest places in the world to host a regatta, as the hard-driving Swiss pushed on relentlessly to eke the technique, and build up the marginal gains.
We go to lake Garda and the Waszp Bellano, 26th May 2024, Yellow Fleet.
Experienced an unforgettable day in Bellano, where the Waszp fleet put on a show with a breathtaking regatta! From precise turns to moments of pure speed, the skippers demonstrated talent and passion.
From what looked to be quite an unpromising weather forecast, wind-wise, last Saturday in Barcelona actually turned out to be one of the most entertaining and enlightening training sessions that we’ve seen so far in the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and NYYC American Magic were the only two teams on the water and with everyone fighting to sail in the same stretch of water, the inevitable happened and we got a first sight of boats lining up loosely against each other, the rules precluding actual two-boat racing. Note how Jimmy reacted to being told this.
