Welcome to our recap of the latest episodes from the popular global sailing highlights show World on Water. This week, we bring you fascinating insights into some key events that happened recently in the world of professional sailing.
INEOS AC75 Sails Into Action
In a day filled with high expectations, the British Challenger of record for the 37th America’s Cup rolled out their yacht, INEOS AC75. The day began with some uncertainties, but by the afternoon, as the Breeze picked up to over 10 knots, it was clear that this boat had a competitive edge, looking much different than its previous version. Their expert on the show noted that INEOS Britannia boasts a strange hole at the front, adding intrigue into their racing strategies.
Thrilling Finish At Charleston Race Week
The 28th edition of Charleston Race Week wrapped up with a lot of excitement. The event saw a range of challenging conditions that put the best sailing teams to test. The most competitive handicap fleet, Palmetto Cup, was taken home by Bottle Rocket, a Cheeta 30 sailed by a group of friends. It was more than just competition though; there were four nights of post-racing parties on the USS Yorktown, adding to the event’s vibrant social scene.
Unveiling The Oakland Classic Yacht Ariki
The stunning Oakland Classic Yacht, Araki, graced the waters of Barcelona during this year’s sailing events. A racing yacht built in Ockland, New Zealand in 1904, it boasts a distinguished career and has been dominating first-class racing until the appearance of another famed yacht, Ranger, in 1938.
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Commissioning Day
In a productive commissioning day for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, the team got to test out their new AC75 in perfect conditions after some initial technical issues halted proceedings on Saturday. Captain Jimmy Spithill and the rest of the team seemed pleased with the performance of the yacht in Neap’s high Breeze.
Transat CIC Set To Hit New York City
The Transat CIC is gearing up to bring solo ocean racing, with its largest and most modern fleet of IMOCA and Class 40 boats, right to the heart of New York City. The city’s deep-rooted history with solo ocean racing began way back in 1957 when Colonel Herbert ‘Blondie’ Hasler proposed a solo race across the Atlantic from Plymouth to New York.

The British Challenger of Record for the 37th America's Cup this November in Barcelona rolled out their yacht, the A C 75 last Saturday before dawn. We thought only politicians did that so no one would look at their plans. The first three 75 boats look similar but Ineos Britannia is different. Now things are getting interesting. Our expert on the World on Water channel says it has a "Strange Hull."

As the locals celebrated shoreside with the tradition of books and roses to celebrate the ‘Diada de Sant Jordi’ or St George’s Day, out on the beautiful waters of Barcelona it was a building breeze through the day that saw the Swiss, Americans and French all training hard.
The 28th Edition of Charleston Race Week
at Patriots Point Wraps Up while the spectrum of conditions put the best to the test. The Palmetto Cup, presented to the most competitive handicap fleet, went to Bottle Rocket, the Cheetah 30 sailed by a group of great friends - Jay Greenfield, Nick Johnstone and Nate Fast – who took two bullets to win class.
The Sportsmanship Award went to the Bermuda 40 Custom Yawl Lioness, owned, and skippered by Sheldon Haynie racing in Pursuit Spinnaker C.
We all saw the terrible cloud-burst weather during the naming ceremony of Emirates Team New Zealand's new A C 75 so it was not difficult to know that sailing in that weather was out of the question. Not fo the beautiful Auckland classic yacht Ariki. It was out on the harbour and so was our shooter Mike Millett from Air-Flow New Zealand who captured the yacht at full sail.
Ariki is a racing yacht which was built in Auckland New Zealand in 1904 by Logan Brothers. She had a distinguished career as a racing and cruising yacht. From the time of her launch in Oct 1904 she dominated first class Auckland yacht racing until the appearance of the yacht Ranger in 1938. She has the sail number A3.
After the disappointment of the session on Saturday being curtailed by a small technical issue, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli docked-out their achingly beautiful AC75 into near-perfect conditions for a Sunday commissioning sail of the highest order. Bristling with power, poise and real stability despite the legacy appendages, Jimmy Spithill and Francesco Bruni (later swapped out with Marco Gradoni), ramped up the intensity and began releasing the boat’s potential.
The Transat CIC is set to bring solo ocean racing’s biggest, most modern IMOCA and Class40 fleet to the very heart of New York City.
The city of New York is inextricably linked to the long history of solo ocean racing. Some years before anyone had really worked up the idea of racing solo around the globe, in 1957 English yachtsman Colonel Herbert ‘Blondie’ Hasler proposed a solo race across the Atlantic from Plymouth to New York
