We sailed the Cowes – St Malo race onboard ‘Northern Child’, a Swan 51. We made a promising start out of the Solent but eventually the wind died off the Dorset coast to such a degree that we possibly would not reach St Malo until the end of the weekend – and some crew had planes to catch on Monday morning from Heathrow. So we retired. But take a look at the good footage in the Solent including shots of a couple of the ‘Big Boys’ passing us Cowes Dinard St Malo Race An Offshore Classic first raced in 1906, starting in Cowes and heading 175 miles southwest across the Channel to Dinard & St Malo, France, a Fastnet Qualifier.
