Fishermen go out early afternoon to lay out their nets. Lots of them. They’re racing out to secure a good spot to put out their long lets. Like, kilometer long nets. Laid out perpendicular. We were sailing side by side with them. One of the boats came close and asked for cigarettes. Gianni had been reluctant to give up one of his packs. To me it was a small sacrifice to maybe get some protection from these guys. As long as we were sailing side by side, we should not encounter nets.
