Taking Out Perkins 4108 Engine At Our Mooring To The Beach To Be Rebuilt | Sailing Africa | S7 Epsd1
Welcome to Season 7 of Winded Voyage. This is sailing Africa. And it starts by doing big time maintenance on my dear Galopin. Most notably the Perkins 4108 engine. We sailed here from Cabo Verde when the engine was showing it’s aches and pains. So as soon as we anchored I asked master mechanic Arona if we could take out Simone the engine for a complete rebuild. Within a few days, Arona was lifting the Perkins out of the boat at our mooring and taking it to the beach and on to his bench. Only here can one experience this marvel of African strength and unity.

Winded Voyage Sailing
An older dude who feels 30 sails the world on a small yacht and tells his live large adventures. Follow him from the beginning when he looks for a sailboat and buys it. Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin.
