Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.

We sail into the pandemic, and it happens to be Mindelo Bay, Cape Verde Africa. No one was prepared for what would ensue. First major issue, Natacha has left the boat. Life in the city begins to slow down. I connect with my girlfriends and they come aboard. Then the port is closed and plans to rescue and retrieve a beached boat were aborted. Things start to take a more serious tone, but it’s still pleasant to be anchored in the bay. And me , I always try to make the best of things, and for some reason the best of things come to me. Social distancing is just around the corner, for now it’s more like social distancing in Cape Verde.
