After a brutal storm, a strange empty traditional boat has drifted very close to me and my boat. I later learn the boat has a sinister story. The storm has wrecked several boats on the beach, and I go to assess the damage. Arona is back and working on my engine. We take it to the best machinist in Dakar to have serious machining work done to the cylinder block.

Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin.
