One of the main reasons I came back to Dakar Senegal was to get my sails repaired and more. I do not have the budget to simply order new sails. Here people don’t just replace things, they fix things. I was impressed by Diego the sailmaker’s professionalism and savoir faire. Diego has decades of experience, the materials and a family to feed. As well, I like to see and feel where my modest earnings go to. My philosophy is to do what I do best and let others do what they do best. Me I sail, travel and make videos. And meet people as you will see in this episode.

An older dude who feels 30 sails the world on a small yacht and tells his live large adventures. Follow him from the beginning when he looks for a sailboat and buys it. Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.
