We’re under way on our passage from Dakar to Cabo Verde. Nearing the archipelago, I could see the difference in the ocean. This was Cape Verdean conditions. I’m all too familiar with them. My hopes were to get in and anchor before dark. We were not very fast the first couple of days. I could feel a current against us. We would sail in between the islands of Santiago and Maio. This should a real good Cape Verde sailing experience for the guys. The guys and Asahi rode Galopin’s bow crashing through the rough waters. We arrived around ten at night. Made some food and went to sleep. It’s always amazing to wake up in the morning and realize where you anchored at night. We are all excited but no one was prepared for what would happen next.
