It was the day before my birthday and I had forgotten. In January, just after all the holidays festivities, you’re not really in the mood for a birthday party. But the party came to me. So I live to live another birthday. Then the realities of being a live aboard full time sailor sets in. There are always things to fix. And now thanks to my recent hip replacement surgery, I can get around. I can get in and out of my dinghy, walk to stores and even get in the water and scrape barnacles off my boat Galopin’s propeller.

On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin.
